Abstract:
We will examine the convergence of operators induced by intervals/unions of intervals/more general sets in ergodic theory and real variable harmonic analysis. The crucial role of Hardy-Littlewood type maximal operators underlines the interplay between the two areas. On the other hand, their behavior differs in certain aspects due to structural dissimilarities.
