Hugo Touchette:
Topological pressure, free energy, equilibrium states and all that
Abstract:
This will be a basic, stop-me-to-ask-questions talk aimed at
dispelling some of the mysteries surrounding the use of concepts of
thermodynamics in dynamical system theory. Among other things, I will try
to explain why the topological pressure has the name it has, why it is not
really a pressure but a free energy, and why a free energy should enter
dynamical system theory at all.
