MTH4105 Introduction to Mathematical Computing

Week 2

  Covered this week:
Lecture 1:
We moved to big new Arts 2 (yay!). Discussed continuous mathematics. The lecture material is here: pdf, maple. You might also be interested in last year's lecture notes (by Hugo Touchette) for the same week: pdf, maple.
Lecture 2:
we finished discussing Q1 from the 2010 exam paper and started talking about Q2.
Lecture 3:
We reviewed the material from Monday's lecture and got as far as talking about using Maple to locate stationary points. We were supposed to watch the following nice Youtube clips: Maple and limits, and Maple and series expansions. But circumstances (i.e. Draper's Lecture Theatre) conspired against us and I'm afraid you'll have to watch them in your own time!
