I am a third year postgraduate research student in the School of Mathematical Sciences, Queen Mary, University of London under the supervision of Prof. Stephen Donkin.
In 2003 I worked for QinetiQ in Weymouth on torpedoes mainly on the digital processing side with the counter-counter measures team. From 1998-2002 I studied at Leicester. My MMath project was titled Young Tableaux And The Robinson-Schensted-Knuth Correspondence and was written under the supervision of Dr Robert Marsh
My work is on relative character theory, especially for the symmetric and hyperoctahedral groups. This is an implementation of Dixon’s algorithm in Gap which allows you to compute the character table for small groups. I am interested in the partition numbers, necklaces and Lyndon words. If you recognize this sequence then please email me 1, 6, 39, 356, 4055 .... It is sequence A124577 in Sloanes. Another interesting sequence is 2, 16, 150, 1784, 25460.... which is sequence A124578.
The 2006 Postgraduate Group Theory Conference was held in April at Southampton and I jointly ran it with Cormac Long.
