I am a Reader in Statistics in the School of Mathematical Sciences
I obtained a BA in Mathematics at Brasenose College Oxford and an MSc in Statistics
at University College London. After a couple of years working as a Statistician in the
Civil Service I studied for a PhD at Nottingham under Prof Adrian Smith.
My thesis was entitled Bayesian approaches to outliers. I then went to Goldsmiths College
London as a lecturer in Statistics. I was subsequently promoted to senior lecturer
and reader. I was Head of Department from 2001-2002. I moved to Queen Mary
in January 2003.
