GRAVITATIONAL WAVE SOURCE GROUPS
Dear Colleagues,
At the joint LSC/Source Analysis meeting at LIGO-Livingston Louisiana
last March, it was decided to organize several "Source Groups" aimed
at facilitating communication between gravitational-wave source
analysts and data analysts. Some of you have already signed up as
potential members of one or more of these source groups.
Two or three potential members of each group (including at least one
source analyst and one data analyst) have agreed to serve as
facilitators in getting the source group organized, and they have all
agreed to do so.
The list of source groups, facilitators, and people who signed up at
the March meeting has been posted on the web at
http://www.lsc-group.phys.uwm.edu/gwawg/
and the source groups and facilitators are also listed at the end of
this email. There is an e-mail list for each group accessible from
this web site. If you know of others who are not already listed,
they may subscribe to the list by following the link.
We are leaving it to the facilitators, in consultation with the
potential group members, to decide how to proceed with getting the
groups started. Some of the groups have now started to organize.
At present, the focus is on developing web pages to act as
bulletin boards for activities in each focus area. Some of the
groups anticipate having meetings in the future, but the frequency,
focus and venues have not been considered deeply as yet.
To encourage the broadest involvement in these groups, the
facilitators asked us to circulate this e-mail to the APS Topical
Group on Gravity and to Malcolm MacCallum's GR news site. If you
have an interest in any of these activities, please join in.
Regards,
Patrick Brady
