Abstract:
Third part of the weekly lecture series "Statistical
dynamics of nonequilibrium systems" consisting of 5 lectures. Baker maps
and so-called multibakers will be introduced, which serve as standard models
in the field of chaos and transport. The fundamental properties of these
models, time-reversal symmetry, and the relation to one-dimensional maps
will be briefly discussed. On this basis, simple cases of transport and
current reversal in biased multibaker maps will be analyzed. Finally, a
reactive-diffusive multibaker will be introduced. Results for the chemical
reaction rate as generated by microscopic deterministic chaos will be discussed.
