Registration Fee:
The registration fee for this workshop is EUR120. Preferably it should be paid in cash after arrival. Information about bank transfer has been sent out by e-mail.

Workshop Schedule:
The day of arrival will be 27th August, the day of departure 31st August. The workshop will start in the morning of 28th August. The plan is to have no more than 6 hours of talks per day from 9h until 18h. On 28th August we will have a conference dinner. On 29th August there are talks in the morning with a conference excursion in the afternoon. On 30th August there will be 6 hours of talks again. Hence, participants need to stay overnight until 31st August.

Dinner Sunday Evening:
If you arrive early enough on Sunday evening, please feel free to have dinner in the Plevna Brewery Pub and Restaurant. (5-10min walking distance from the hotel, open until 0h, kitchen closes at 23.15h). One of the organisers (Rainer) will try to join you after his planned arrival around 21h.

Timing and Number of Talks:
Participation is upon invitation only. We have three keynote talks and 17 invited talks. A keynote talk is for 45 minutes, an invited talk for 35 minutes; both include 5 minutes of discussion. The three organizers will also give 35 minute talks. Altogether this yields 23 talks during about 13h leaving plenty of time for informal discussions.

Workshop Excursion and Conference Dinner:
The conference dinner will take place on Monday evening in the scenic Restaurant Näsinneula. Please let the conference organisers know about any dietary requirements.
The excursion will take place on Tuesday afternoon to the authentic Finnish Siivikkala smoke sauna. Please bring your bathing suits with you if you wish to swim and have sauna. Naturally it is ok just to enjoy the nature, and the cottage is well suitable for discussions in a relaxed atmosphere.

Traveling to Tampere:
There are two recommended options to travel to Tampere. Please note that in both cases flights (to Tampere or Helsinki) should be booked as early as possible.
  1. Flight to Helsinki + train. The Helsinki airport is essentially "one-dimensional", so that smaller gate numbers (11...20) correspond to Terminal 1 and larger (21...38) to Terminal 2. The train station is located between these interconnected terminals. There are regular trains (~ every hour) to Tampere. The journey lasts 1:30 ... 2 hours. The trains are not direct: you need to change the train at the Tikkurila train station, about 15 minutes from the Airport station. This change is clearly marked in your tickets, and you can buy the whole ticket (Helsinki Airport - Tampere) with the machine at the Airport Station, or online here. On the same webpage you can find the train timetables.
There is no need to book the trains in advance. They are always cheap (~EUR20 one way), and there is always space.
Tampere train station is located at the heart of the city, and Sokos Hotel Ilves (our workshop hotel) is about 300-400 meters from the train station. Its address is "Hatanpään valtatie 1" and it is marked by number 5 in the map below; see also its location on google maps.

  2. Flight to Tampere. Sometimes its not much more expensive to fly to Tampere instead of Helsinki. Finnair (Oneworld alliance) has flights to Tampere through Helsinki, and SAS (Star Alliance) has flights to Tampere through Stockholm. Tampere has also AirBaltic connections to Riga and Ryanair connections to Bremen, Budapest, etc. Please note that public transport from/to Tampere Airport is nearly non-existent, so you need to take a taxi - they are located just in front of the station and have all the same pricing. The taxi ride to city centre is about 17 km / 15-20 minutes and costs about 30-40 euro.
Please note also that separate flights Helsinki-Tampere-Helsinki should definitely be avoided - they are very expensive.
In order to check for flights you may wish to try google flights.
