The Warumbungle Mountains

These pictures show the Warrumbungle mountains west of Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia. The Warumbungle National Park extends over most of the mountains and protects the area from human development.

Siding Spring, location of the astronomical observatory, lies in the Warrumbungles. The pictures here show the scenery from Siding Spring and also from a walk inside the National Park.

The pictures were taken with a digital camera in December 2001 and March 2002.

There are also pictures of the Anglo-Australian Observatory and the Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatories, both located in the Warrumbungles.
