Notes for students and academic advisers

  1. Students cannot take a module if they have already taken an overlapping module or will be required to do so later in their programme.
  2. Essential prerequisites are required for each module. Any student wishing to take a module who hasn't taken all the essential prerequisites must get permission by email from Dr Francis Wright, Director of Undergraduate Studies.
  3. Helpful prerequisites are not required, but students taking a module without having taken all the helpful prerequisites may find the module harder than the School intends it to be. Students do this at their own risk and may need to do some extra reading to catch up.
  4. Advisers can see their advisees' academic histories online in MySIS and can check there whether students meet module registration requirements.
  5. Modules separated by slashes are alternatives (so either/any module is appropriate) whereas modules separated by commas are both/all required.
  6. For full details see the individual School of Mathematical Sciences undergraduate module web pages.
