About the Post
The School of Mathematical Sciences is seeking to appoint a Student Administrative Assistant. The postholder will provide administrative support to the Director of Taught Programmes, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Admissions Tutor and Director of Postgraduate Research Studies under the direction of the Education Manager, and will work as part of a team alongside the UG Programme Administrator, PG Programme Administrative and Student Support Officer to support undergraduate and postgraduate student administration.
The successful candidate will have administrative experience ideally in an academic environment and experience of using spreadsheets and database packages. Experience in dealing with students and academic staff is desirable.
To apply for this post, candidates must be educated to GCSE level C in English and Maths or equivalent standard. They should also be able to organise own workload and work on own initiative, after initial guidance, to multitask, and to juggle competing pressures, deadlines and demands, in order of priority.
Remuneration & Benefits
This post is part-time (0.5FTE), fixed term for 13 months. Exact working patterns will be negotiated with the successful applicant. The starting salary will be in the range £19,881 - £24,335 per annum pro-rata. Benefits include 30 days annual leave pro-rata), defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
It is expected that the successful candidate will take up the post on 21 August or as soon as possible thereafter.
This post is available as a result of maternity leave, and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
