The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is building on its current success and is looking forward to further rapid development and growth at a time of strategic investment across both the Faculty and the College. The new academic staff recruited to SMS during the last 18 months are part of a three year programme of recruitment to complement the talented and enthusiastic teams who will continue to establish the School of Mathematical Sciences as one of the leading centres of activity in the UK.

The School of Mathematical Sciences is seeking to appoint a Research and Enterprise Manager with considerable experience in supporting research grant administration and/or enterprise in a higher education institution or research body. The postholder will provide, under the wider guidance and leadership of the School Manager, support for research and enterprise in the School and will be responsible for the development and implementation of the research and enterprise strategy in the School. The postholder will ensure there is a supportive research environment within the School.

Candidates will be required to have significant recent experience of working within an academic research environment and will have excellent analytical financial management, communication and interpersonal skills. A proven ability to prioritise your workload and to work independently is essential.

To apply for this post, candidates should be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience with substantial experience in a similar or related role.

The post is part- time (0.6 FTE) and is available for 12 months as a result of maternity leave, and it is expected that the successful candidate will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month. The salary will be in the range £34,626 - £38,579 per annum pro rata. Benefits include 30 days annual leave pro rata, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

It is expected that the successful candidate will take up the post on 23 June 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
