Postgraduate Research Programmes Officer

The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is building on its current success and is looking forward to further rapid development and growth at a time of strategic investment across both the Faculty and the College. The new staff recruited to SMS during the last 2 years are part of a programme of recruitment to complement the talented and enthusiastic teams who will continue to establish the School of Mathematical Sciences as one of the leading centres of activity in the UK.
The School of Mathematical Sciences is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Postgraduate Research Programmes Officer with significant administrative experience of working in Higher Education sector. Candidates will be required to have recent experience of supporting teaching and research within an academic environment, and will have excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. A proven ability to prioritise your workload and to work independently is essential. Experience of financial management is desirable. To apply for this post, candidates should be educated to degree level or have equivalent qualifications or extensive relevant experience in a similar or related role.
The post is part- time (0.6 FTE) and is available for 15 months from 1st September 2014. The salary will be in the range £31,113 - £32,820 per annum pro rata (pay award of 2% pending). Benefits include 30 days annual leave pro rata, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
It is expected that the successful candidate will take up the post on 1 September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
