Postdoctoral Research Assistant

The School of Mathematical Sciences has a position for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work with Professor Yan Fyodorov on the EPSRC funded project Disordered Landscapes via Random Matrix Theory and Statistical Mechanics.

Candidates should have a strong research background in Random Matrix Theory, Statistical and/or Quantum Mechanics of Disordered Systems or Conformal Field Theory. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Theoretical or Mathematical Physics, or a closely related area of Applied Mathematics at the time of commencing employment, but it is permissible for the viva to be pending if they have written their PhD thesis and have a strong statement from their PhD adviser.

This is a full time, fixed term post available for 3 years, and we would like the position to start between 1 January 2012 and 31 March 2012. The salary will be in the range of £30,350 - £35,674 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
