Applicants are invited for the position of postdoctoral research assistant to work with Prof. J. Lidsey, Prof. R. Tavakol, and Dr. K. Malik in the area of theoretical cosmology. The applicant will work in particular on aspects of the inflationary paradigm and cosmological perturbation theory. Experience in the cosmology of the early universe and/or solving the field equations (analytically or numerically) would be an advantage.
The Astronomy Unit at Queen Mary has active research groups in cosmology, space plasma physics, solar and stellar physics, planetary formation, solar system dynamics, and galaxies, covering both observation and theory. The Unit has access to major excellent local computational facilities, including a new cluster of 800 computational cores, bench-marked at 4.5 Teraflops.
This full time, 3 year fixed term position is available to start ideally on 1 October 2010 or as soon as possible with a salary range of £30,229 - £33,659 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
