Queen Mary is one of London’s and of the UK's leading research-focused universities. With over 16,000 students, it is amongst the largest of the colleges of the University of London. Queen Mary's 3,000 staff teach and research across a wide range of subjects in Science and Engineering, the Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, and Medicine and Dentistry.
Applications are invited for this post in the School of Mathematical Sciences. The successful candidate will support the Head of School, School Manager and other members of the senior leadership and management team in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and in the smooth functioning of the School by providing high level executive support and a timely and effective administrative service. They will also be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources support within the School and will support the Athena SWAN agenda. The post holder will also support the Head of School and School Manager in raising the external visibility of the School.
Candidates should have a degree, or equivalent, and significant experience of working in a similar or related role, preferably in the higher education sector. They should be able to demonstrate expertise in the management of people, resources and projects, knowledge of HR legislation and regulations, a high level of initiative, the ability to research and analyse information, and excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal and IT skills.

The post is full time and fixed-term for 12 months. Starting salary will be in the range £35,319 – £39,351 inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, childcare vouchers scheme, defined benefit pension scheme and interest free season ticket loan. The successful candidate will be expected to start the post on 27th April 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter.
This post is available as a result of maternity leave, and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
