Administrative Officer (Teaching and Student Support)

Queen Mary, University of London is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. The School of Mathematical Sciences has a very strong research record and high educational standards for its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The academic staff, undergraduate students together with the support staff, postdoctoral assistants and postgraduate students make up a vibrant environment. 
In recent years, the School of Mathematical Sciences has seen a marked expansion in terms of student and academic staff numbers. One of the main purposes of this role is to provide professional support for all administration concerning undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research students. 

The successful candidate will be 

• Enthusiastic with excellent administration and computer skills 
• Educated to at least A-level or equivalent standard and with administrative experience in an academic environment.
• Able to manage conflicting priorities and work both independently and part of a team.
• Well organised, aware of the need for prompt and effective communication and responsive to variable and seasonal demands within the office environment.

Ideally the successful candidate will have administrative and customer facing experience in a University or similar environment; thorough knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures relevant to student administration; understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity. The post is a permanent, full time position and the salary will be in the range of £24,726 - £30,500 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), childcare vouchers scheme, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme
