Graduate Attributes

Graduate attributes are generic descriptors of the characteristics that we expect our graduates to have. They tell our students what they should aim for and employers what they can expect, in broad terms that are not intimately linked to specific degrees. In the School of Mathematical Sciences, we aim to equip our graduates with most of the attributes listed in the Queen Mary Statement of Graduate Attributes and students are encourated to follow the Queen Mary guide to Developing Your Graduate Attributes.

Graduate Attributes and Employability Strategy

Our current strategy lists what we will provide and what we expect from our students in five key areas.

Graduate Attributes Twilight Events

The School of Mathematical Sciences offers events for undergraduates to develop their skills further; for example, we recently held three GATE (Graduate Attributes Twilight Events) sessions where mathematics and physics undergraduates worked together to solve problems, which concluded with group presentations. The film below summarises the project and you can hear about what our undergraduates learned from the experience.
