Professor Ian Chiswell retired from Queen Mary at the end of the academic year 2008-9.
On Monday, 9 November 2009, we held a celebration of his career to mark the occasion. This consisted of an afternoon of mathematics. The programme was as follows:
- 14:00–15:00: Martin Dunwoody, Finitely presented groups acting on trees
- 15:00–16:00: Jim Howie, Residually free groups
- 16:00–17:00: Tea
- 17:00–18:00: Peter Kropholler, Soluble groups and their classifying spaces
The talks were followed by a dinner at the Thai Room Restaurant at Bow Wharf.
