Research
The School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary consists of about 60 members of staff who conduct research in various areas of Mathematics, Statistics, and Astronomy. Research is organised in two main centres, the MRC and the AU, with vivid exchange between both. In particular, the School runs large postgraduate research programmes and organises a large number of seminar series. Please consult the specialised subsections for more details.
Mathematics Research Centre (MRC)
The Mathematics Research Centre at Queen Mary is one of Britain's top research institutes. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, more than 50% of our research activity was judged to be either world-leading or internationally excellent. Astronomy Unit (AU)
The Astronomy Unit (AU) at Queen Mary, University of London, is one of the UK's premier centres for astronomy research and postgraduate education, attracting students, postdoctoral research fellows and distinguished visitors from around the world. Members of the Unit participate in a wide range of international research programs, including ground-based observations, space experiments, and theoretical work in a variety of research areas.
