Degree programmes

Our range of degree programmes allows you to choose a mixture of modules best suited to your interests. Most students take at least one module with a computational component and you will have access to top-class computing facilities. The modular system at Queen Mary makes it possible to choose one of several degree programmes, either in mathematics alone or in mathematics combined with other subjects.

All our degree programmes require at least a B grade in GCE A-level Mathematics, or equivalent; for full details please see our entry requirements.

Full details of our degree programmes can be accessed by selecting the title in the table below.

Foundation programmes

We also offer a Science and Engineering Foundation Programme (SEFP) targeted at people with an unusual academic background (e.g. mature students or people with non-standard qualifications) who have not taken A-level Mathematics and do not meet our normal entry requirements, which provides access to all our programmes except GL11. The UCAS codes for the SEFP leading to a Mathematical Sciences degree programme are GGX1 for a BSc (4 years including foundation) and GGY1 for an MSci (5 years including foundation). You choose the degree programme to which you want to progress (any except GL11) during your foundation year.

Our International Science and Engineering Foundation Programme (ISEFP), for which you apply directly to the ISEFP team, is another route to a Mathematical Sciences degree.

Work placement and study abroad for a year

We don’t currently offer work placements for a year, i.e. sandwich courses, although our Careers Service offers help with finding summer internships etc. We do offer study abroad.
