About the role

Applications are invited for a Lectureship or Senior Lectureship in Applied and Computational Topology. A Lecturer holds an indefinite appointment roughly equivalent to an Assistant or Associate Professor in the US system (depending on career stage); a Senior Lecturer is equivalent to an Associate Professor. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate with a track record of applying rigorous research methods to address real-world problems. He or she will be expected to develop a research platform and interact with one or more of the existing research groups in the School of Mathematical Sciences.

A successful applicant at Senior Lecturer level will have an excellent research profile and a strong track record of independent research as evidenced, for example, by successful PhD supervision, substantial external research funding, and/or a sustained publication record of well cited papers. At Lecturer level a successful applicant will have demonstrated exceptional potential for achieving research excellence.

Candidates should also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in teaching and supervising graduate students, as well as the ability and flexibility to teach across a range of topics in mathematics and its applications at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Applicants whose work has had a significant impact outside of the university environment are particularly encouraged to apply.
