Who is accepted onto our programmes?
The normal entry requirement for the MSc is the equivalent of a British first or good second class honours degree in a subject with a substantial mathematical component: for example, mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, or economics. We will assess your suitability for the programme individually. Please be aware that the Admissions Tutor may require further information from you regarding your mathematical background.
Students from outside of the UK help form a global community here at Queen Mary. For detailed country-specific entry requirements please see QMUL International students. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English language proficiency. Non-native English speakers are required to have a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent; please see our English language requirements for details.
How do I apply?
The application deadline for 2018/19 entry is 31st August 2018. If the deadline has already passed, please contact the School before applying.
International applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.
Tips for applying
- Reference letters – Please note that the application process requires two academic references. You can either upload the references with your online form or simply supply referee contact details. In the latter case the Admissions Team will request references directly from your named referees – please note that if your referees are slow in responding to this request, you may experience delays in the processing of your application.
- Transcript – Remember to upload a full academic transcript when you complete your online form, which details all of the modules taken and results gained for your qualifications. This is an important piece of documentation that the Admissions Tutor requires to reach an informed decision.
