In collaboration with National Grid and EPSRC, a workshop on Mathematics and Economics of Energy Markets organised by Professor Christian Beck together with number of colleagues will be taking place in Wokingham on 19-20 January 2017.
The purpose of the workshop is to bring together industry experts, mathematicians and economists to focus on topics of acknowledged economic importance to the design and operation of future energy systems. Each of these topics will be introduced by someone with knowledge of the industry and energy markets, and we propose also extensive discussion.
The workshop is one of three planned in preparation for a proposed 4-month research programme in 2019 at the Isaac Newton Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge.
The idea is for mathematicians and economists to understand the real-life problems that are on the horizon, and to develop the mathematical and economic tools suitable for planning for the future of electricity networks, both in UK and throughout the world.
