NASA selects investigations for Solar Probe Plus mission

NASA has begun development of a mission to visit and study the sun closer than ever before. The
unprecedented project, named Solar Probe Plus, is due to launch no
later than 2018.
Professor David Burgess of the Astronomy Unit is
one of only two UK-based scientists named as collaborators on the
Fields Experiment (Principal Investigator: Stuart Bale, Berkeley,
California) recently selected by NASA as an instrument on Solar Probe
Plus.
