This unique programme enables numerate graduates to develop the skills and knowledge needed for a professional career in the profitable and intellectually challenging intersection of mathematics, finance and technology.

MSc Financial Computing

There is high demand from investment banks, hedge funds, financial software companies, brokerage and consultancy firms, and other businesses for graduates who have excellent mathematical, financial and computing skills.

This programme has been carefully curated, so that, on completion, you will have gained a solid understanding of all of the key areas of modern financial computing, including a range of numerical and computational techniques (many state-of-the-art) that form an important part of the toolkit of a typical practitioner.

Structure

The programme consist of eight taught modules and a project and dissertation. In semesters one and two, you will take three compulsory modules and one elective module. You will gain experience of a variety of software development environments, languages and tools, suitable for rapid application development (in the front office), the development of analytics libraries (in ‘quant’ teams), and large-scale software systems engineering (in the back office). You will learn about the structure of financial instruments and the operation of the markets, and the foundations of mathematical modelling in finance.
