- Representing the university at Higher Education fairs and UCAS conventions
The role is paid generously to recognise the contribution offered by Maths Ambassadors, in line with the university's policies as a Living Wage employer.

Why become a Maths Ambassador?
Be part of something
As a Maths Ambassador, you will join a dynamic team of students from all over the world. The scheme provides a supportive and stimulating network for students of all academic backgrounds, across both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
In training, on the job and at social events, you’ll get to know one another and develop impressive team-working skills. Many of our ambassadors stay with the scheme for the duration of their studies at QMUL and forge long-lasting friendships.
Bring the ‘QMUL experience’ to life
The university experience is unique to every student and each of our Ambassadors has a personal story to tell. Through tours, workshops, talks and events, they bring university to life and provide valuable insights into the QMUL experience. Their first-hand knowledge helps students to understand what it’s like to study maths at university and is highly valued by teachers, parents and careers advisors.
Build your CV and develop valuable professional skills
Professional skills and experience have never been more important for graduates and we provide many opportunities to strengthen your CV as a Maths Ambassador. You will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience, including presenting and campus tour delivery.
Ambassador activities hone key employability skills, including:
The Maths Ambassador contract is flexible, meaning that students have the freedom to select when they work. This ensures that the programme fits well with academic study and helps students to maintain a manageable balance between their professional and academic work. Whilst Maths Ambassadors have the freedom to select their hours, they are expected to work regularly throughout the year.
As a Maths Ambassador you will be paid generously for the hours which you work, including for travel time to and from offsite events where appropriate.
The programme is open to all students within the School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
How to apply:
2016 Maths Ambassador applications are now closed. We recruit new Maths Ambassadors at the beginning of each academic year, and may also have an intake during the Spring.
