The SMS Postgraduate Research Day will be taking place this Friday (17th May).

Students and Staff are encouraged to attend this enjoyable event, organised by the Director of Postgraduate Research Studies, Dr Klages, which will give you the opportunity to learn about the diverse range of PhD research taking place in our School.

Mathematics: The next generation

As part of a series of joint lectures organised by the London Mathematical Society and Gresham College, Prof. Peter Cameron will give a talk on 14 May 2013 on his experience designing and presenting a course for first-semester students at Queen Mary, University of London aimed at forming the next generation of mathematicians. Queen Mary honours Professor Marcus du Sautoy

Professor Marcus du Sautoy was named Honorary Doctor of Science by Professor Shahn Majid of Queen Mary’s School of Mathematical Sciences. Marcus du Sautoy is a TV and radio presenter, author, writer for the UK’s leading newspapers, the Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of New College.
