We are delighted to announce that Dr Ginestra Bianconi, Reader in Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematical Sciences, is among the 150 Outstanding Referees for 2017 selected by the American Physical Society (APS) for having demonstrated exceptional work in the assessment of manuscripts published in the Physical Review journals.
In collaboration with National Grid and EPSRC, a workshop on Mathematics and Economics of Energy Markets organised by Professor Christian Beck together with number of colleagues will be taking place in Wokingham on 19-20 January 2017.

The next university-wide Postgraduate virtual open day is taking place on Wednesday 18th January and the School of Mathematical Sciences will be on hand to meet any prospective postgraduate students interested in pursuing further study with us.
On the 4th of October, new students were welcomed to our PhD programme with a series of talks and a celebratory lunch. One of these students, Rachael King, was awarded the 2016 Ian Macdonald Award of £1000 for her exceptional research application.
We are delighted to announce that the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) Education Committee has approved the accreditation of QMUL’s BSc in Mathematics with Actuarial Science. Accreditation means that students completing the programme with good marks across all the relevant modules can receive exemptions from up to 8 of the IFoA’s professional examinations, kickstarting their professional careers.
