ONE DAY COMPLEX DYNAMICS MEETING

School of Mathematical Sciences
Queen Mary, University of London

Wednesday 11th May 2005

11.15-12.15 Gwyneth Stallard (Open University) "Dimensions of Julia sets"
1.30-2.30 Sebastian van Strien (Warwick) "Quasiconformal rigidity and some consequences"
2.30-3.30 Marianne Freiberger (QMUL) "Matings of Hecke groups with polynomials and transcendental functions"
4.00-5.00 Adrien Douady (Orsay) "Thurston's theorem"

The talks will be in Maths 103 (the Mathematics Seminar Room). Coffee and tea will be available in the Mathematics Common Room 102 before the first talk.

All are welcome. The talks are intended for non-specialists as well those working in holomorphic dynamics: they will present a selection of topics which should be of interest to researchers in dynamics in general. The meeting is supported by the London Mathematical Society through the London Dynamical Systems Group.

Nearest tube stations to QM Maths are Stepney Green (District Line) and Mile End (Central Line). Turn left on leaving either. From Stepney Green, the campus is on the left and Maths is the first building: from Mile End the campus is on the right and Maths is the last building.
