The main problem is to get some funding. Please inform yourself, for example, at the following organisations:

the EPSRC
the Royal Society (click on `grants'; here see in particular the prestigious Newton Fellowships!)
the Leverhulme Trust
the Royal Commission

Marie Curie Fellowships; see also related information from the UK Research Office
non-EU nationals should also check out the British Council
Germans may especially check out the DFG and the DAAD

for short visits see the London Mathematical Society (click on `grants')

If you already succeeded to get some money from some source, the only problem is to find a research project of common interest. Then we might start right away.
