Brief description of the main theme of this meeting:
The notion of anomalous diffusion derives from the fact that the mean square displacement of an ensemble of points, or moving particles, expressed by an ensemble average must not follow the law of normal diffusion, <x2> ~ ta with a=1, but may be anomalously diffusive with a≠1. Such anomalous dynamics has not only been observed in many real world problems but is also of considerable mathematical interest.
This meeting will highlight recent developments on the origin of anomalous diffusion in simple deterministic dynamical systems. The talks will range from the rigorous mathematical analysis of infinite measure preserving transformations up to the analysis of anomalous transport in disordered one-dimensional maps.

The meeting will take place in room 24AA04 in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Surrey.
